Piperazzi on Sunday
This photo is from Allan MacLeod. His words;
Attached is a photograph of the Seattle Scottish Boys' Band, taken in 1964 or 1965.
The band was formed in 1951 as the Seattle Pipe Band Juniors and changed their name in 1960 to the Seattle Scottish Boys' Band.
They were the first juvenile pipe band in the Western United States and placed consistently in the top 3 in juvenile pipe band
competitions throughout the 1960's.
If you can believe the newspaper articles of the day - Seattle Times, July 23, 1969
"... They are the first U.S. pipe band to go abroad to compete in Highland Games...."
Note the %$#&* brass tenor drums. They were a royal pain to take apart and polish every couple of months.
The band practiced every Friday night at the Millionaires Club in Seattle, which is where this photo was taken.
Every Saturday between the middle of June and Labor Day was taken up with Highland Games or parades.
